When releasing song "Prompt Me That (If You Can)", Luguiev originally labelled the track with the sub genre Neo Rave, more particularly "French Neo Rave" due to its incorporation of French-style rap.
However, after technical discussions, expert techno and Neo Rave DJs could not confirm that the track was Neo Rave due, notably, to the dragging expansion of the main melody compared to the tempo.
Guievtech is specifically defined as such:
- A tempo between 150 BPM and 160 BPM.
- House-inspired drums (no distorted kicks like in classic techno for example).
- A "tech" part which replaces the bassline and which alternates, every eighth note, between a classic synth bass and a percussion-like techno bass hit.
- An arrangement roughly composed of a short intro, a verse, a chorus, an after-chorus, then the second verse, the second chorus, and a progressive outro. The rest is free.
- The chorus features a catchy, bright melody that plays over the tech part.
- The melody is usually played on an original, 2000s-style digital synth that mimicks the sound of a real instrument.
- A overarchingly bright, clean feel.
- Chill Guievtech: features a bright, euphoric environement that arises from specific chords and pads. Usually with no or limited vocals. For an example, see Luguiev's Zagger.
- Hip Guievtech : features rap, especially conscious rap. For an example, see Luguiev's Prompt Me That (If You Can).
